Canoeing and Kayaking in Chauvigny
paddle down the Vienne near Futuroscope
Want to see the Vienne from a different perspective? Just thirty minutes from Le Futuriste campsite, the Chauvigny Valdivienne Canoë-Kayak (CVCK) club takes you along the water through the heart of a peaceful green valley. Established in 2001, this local club offers canoe and kayak trips for everyone: whether with family, friends, or in a group, everyone can find a route at their own pace.
You choose your starting point—in Civaux, Cubord, or Saint-Martin-la-Rivière—and then head downriver to the base in Chauvigny. The outing can last a few hours or an entire day. Along the way, you’ll pass wild riverbanks, small pebble beaches, and quiet spots for a picnic. Upon arrival, the medieval town of Chauvigny and its perched castles await you to finish the day with a beautiful stroll.
Children as young as 6 can join, provided they are comfortable in the water. For a unique evening, book a trip at the end of the day when the light turns the valley golden. In July and August, the club also welcomes 10- to 17-year-olds every Friday for supervised outings.
The base is open Wednesday through Sunday in July and August, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Remember to bring closed-toe shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and sunscreen. Between two days at Futuroscope, it’s the perfect chance to take a breath of fresh air and discover the natural side of the Vienne.
